- Do readers have to use this?
- No. Every purchase gives them the EPUB itself, with no DRM and no device limit — Apple Books, Calibre, Kobo, whatever they already use. The browser reader is for the reader who does not want to think about any of that, and for the sample, which is where most people meet a book for the first time.
- Does it need an app or a plugin?
- Nothing. It is the page you are on. The rendering engine loads on demand when a reader opens a book, so pages that merely link to a reader never pay for it.
- What about Kindle?
- Every download page has a send-to-Kindle button that mails the file to the address Amazon gave the reader. Amazon requires the sending address to be approved once in their account, which is their step and not ours, and the page says so plainly rather than failing silently. The same route works for Kobo, PocketBook and Boox.
- Does it follow dark mode?
- Yes. The book renders in its own frame and inherits nothing from the page, so the reader's colours are read off the site and passed in — the theme toggle in the header moves the book with it.
